Teleconference

Today I have a teleconference with my Company Commander. I'm a little nervous. I'm not necessarily nervous about speaking with the Commander. I'm nervous because this teleconference is a promotion point interview and it will determine how many points he will give me on my promotion packet. He can be intimidating, and it's not because he is the Company Commander, but because that is just the type of presence he gives as a person. A lot of times I think he does it on purpose; to see people squirm. Then other times I realize that it's just the kind of person he is and he can't help it. Everyone does things naturally that they don't even realize they do.

Anyway, I have to have a bunch of stuff memorized. A lot of it I know, but it's like being put on the spot and my memory may freeze. There are 3 things that I have to know by heart which I never really thought about before and that's the NCO Creed, our Unit's Mission Statement, and our Unit's Mission Essential Task List. I have the main idea down, but I'm unsure if he wants it quote-unquote type memorization. Seriously.... There are a LOT of big words. NCO Creed isn't really a creed. It's more like a chapter in a book. Our Unit's Mission Statement would normally be perceived as a sentence... but this is one long run-on-sentence which I think constitutes a paragraph. The Mission Task List is just that.. a list. It's made up of 6 sentence fragments. I hope the question isn't asked in a certain order type format.

The other stuff I will be questioned on are simple soldier stuff which everyone does or should know if they are in the Army (ie: The Soldiers Creed, our Warrior Ethos [which is part of the Creed], and our General Orders).

Okay... lots of cramming to do and so little time to do it in. :-)
